Satellite Alcomsat1, devoted to telecommunications, to be launched before June 2017

ALGIERS- The satellite Alcomsat1, devoted to telecommunications, will be launched before the end of June 2017, announced in Algiers, Director General of the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) Azzedine Oussedik, underlining that it will allow strengthening the national sovereignty in the fields of telecommunications and broadcasting.

“The satellite Alcomsat1 will be launched before the end of June 2017 with the aim of strengthening the national sovereignty in the fields of telecommunications and broadcasting, of telephony and internet,” stressed Oussedik in a press conference after the successful launch, on Monday 26 september 2016, of three Algerian observation satellites.

He underlined that it was a major programme which has been established, as part of this project, equipped with a terrestrial station in Bouchaoui, with redundancies in the heights of High Plateaus, adding that its running is entrusted to Algerian experts, who are under training.

Oussedik said that this project is carried out in partnership with the Chinese, with whom Algeria has an “important” training programme.

Three Algerian satellites (Alsat-1B, Alsat-2B et Alsat-1N) were successfully launched Monday by the Indian launcher PSLV C-35 from the site of Sriharikota of the Spatial Centre of Satich Dhawan (southeast of India).

ALGIERS-Three Algerian satellites (Alsat-1B, Alsat-2B and Alsat-1N) have successfully been launched Monday 26 september morning by Indian launcher PSLV C35 from Sriharikota site (Satich Dahwan Space Center), the Algerian Space Agency announced (ASAL).

Satich Dahwan Space Center's lancher PSLV C-35 put into orbite 8 satellites including three Algerian ones, ASAL said in a communiqué.

Alsat-1B is the second Algerian medium-resolution earth observation satellite launched by Algeria after Alsat-1.

Alsat-1B is part of the DMC" (Disaster Monitoring Constellation) international constellation endowed with an excellent shooting frequency. It contributes to the management of disasters under the International Chart "Space and Major Disasters."

For its part, Alsat-1N is a miniaturized satellite with scientific mission and technology demonstration developed in the framework of the implementation of the cooperation agreement with the United Kingdom Space A (UKSA) by a team of Algerian-British researchers.

Helicopter manufacturing in Setif: signing of MoU between Defence Ministry, Italian Leonardo-Finmeccania

An industrial and trade partnership memorandum of understanding on the manufacturing of AugustaWesland helicopters in Ain Arnat (Setif) was signed Thursday, in Algiers, by the ministry of National Defence and the Italian group Leonardo-Finmeccanica (SPA-Italy) said the ministry in a communiqué.

The memorandum “is part of the implementation of the programme of economic relaunch, initiated by his Excellency the president of the Republic, Supreme chief of the armed forces, minister of National Defence, aimed at re-boosting the national industry and the interest granted by the High command of the People’s National Army to the development of military manufacturing to contribute to national development and strengthen its potentials,” said the source.

The parties to this agreement “agreed this year to create a joint Algerian-Italian company destined to the manufacturing of light and medium helicopters in the industrial site of Ain Arnat.”

“From the first years and following the construction of plants, the main objective of this company is to manufacture three types of light and medium helicopters for various use including the transport of personnel and cargo, medical evacuation, surveillance and control,” added the communiqué.

“From its launch, this company will benefit from a local and international distribution network and an after-sales service that includes all levels of reparations,” said the source.

Algeria to play against Palestine at July 5th Stadium

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) will allocate all the means to make the success of the first match ever between Algeria and Palestine in their history.

The match is due to be held on February 17thfollowing Palestinian and Algerian popular claims to schedule a game between the Desert Fighters and the Warriors.

An official at the Federation announce the FAF’s Chairman Mohamed Raouraoua gave instructions to his assistants to make the match a real football party.

“Raouraoua asked to make all the necessary conditions available to hold this game in the best circumstances. The Palestinian delegation will get a hearty welcome. A huge media coverage will be present for this historic event,” said the same source.

The official added that the match will be held in the July 5 Stadium. “We chose this stadium on purpose as it symbolizes Algeria’s Independence Day.”

The Palestinian delegation will stay next to its Algerian counterparts at the Sidi Moussa Technical Center where they will train.

The FAF is expected to schedule many activities for the Palestinian delegation out of training sessions. Of them, visiting historical sites in Algiers.
