AMMAN- The building of
two astronomical and space observatories in Ahaggar and Aures will boost
scientific research in Algeria, said Wednesday in Amman, Jordan, the Algerian
academic and researcher Djamel Mimouni.
In a statement to APS the
Algerian physicist said “that two national astronomical and space observatories
in Ahaggar and Aures. The future observatory of Aures is a joint project
between the University of Annaba, the Astrophysics Graduate School of the
University of Constantine and the Research Centre in Astronomy, Astrophysics
and Geophysics of Algiers (CRAAG).”
The project, which has
been approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, is
part of an international partnership.
Mimouni, also
vice-president of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, said that
the observatory will be endowed with sophisticated equipment as part of an
international partnership, adding that the construction works will be launched
in three to four years at the latest.
